So I'm a current student in kaplan studying a double degree in comp science and cyber forensics. (Only recently added comp science a few months ago.).

Im been looking around other degrees, and realise how much my degree fall shorts in important modules compared to private school like sim since its a fast track degree. I know this was poor decision from my end and im really afraid i cant get a job even with the degree. But i try my best to fill the gaps by taking outside certs like CEH and cisco networking or self teaching from udemy etc.

And recently i even stumbled upon NUS btech degree for cyber security which covers things i never went thru before and its meant for working adults to gain knowledge for their field.

I have a local diploma , and some professional certs (by then ) and my private degree which i plan to use them for admission to their btech degree. (Fyi didnt do well for diploma)

But isit advisble to pursue a btech degree even tho i have a private degree in future?. Or should i just work on pursuing all the professional certifications related to cyber security.

I know nus offer specialist courses which i can take instead of the degree. But since the courses are stacakable for a btech degree and everything in their course structure i have not learnt before , i was thinking that i might as well pursue the part time degree since it gives me a better edge since i be learning things ive not learnt before. And still be able to continue working meantime.

Also am i still able to use the moe grant ? Even tho i grad from private.

Yes you are eligible for moe grant. Why not you apply when the next application window opens. If by then you would have graduated, get a job and enrol in the degree as a full time working adult.

Honestly I would start over with a different private Uni. If possible, go further and obtain certs and look for courses in reputable private unis. Kaplan has bad rep and honestly I don't get why anyone would ever study in their school. I have friends who completed their degree at kaplan, struggle to find a job even in small enterprises. Now they're working as singtel sales rep.

I appreciate your feedback. But whats done is done. Paying 30k ontop of whats paid is inpractical at this point. Since its alr a year studying there , b4 i realised my mistake . So i try to work hard by working on network and programming skills on my own. And look for outside prof cert and specialist diploma to fill the gaps of knowledge i lacked and save later on for a proper degree in nus which its worth doing compared to private

Make good of your time now.
If u are into bug bounty program then it helps to beef up resume.

You could take up such to close the gap if you insist of completing your current degree

Since this is part time, u could apply and cut your losses. U may not see your $$ but you are saving in time. This is opportunity cost. If NTU program fits try that, don’t put all your eggs in a basket
