Hi friends, as coming Feb I'll be staying @ Fuji lake hotel to have the prefect glimpse of the breathtaking mountain. However, I'm keen to go closer up or probably have a better snap of the mountain itself but I've heard many bus tours don't operate during winter. Also free and easy will be a better choice to my option? During Feb will i risk the chance of seeing a misty mountain? :( Any advise to how i can get a better scenery for photo taking?

On a clear winter day you can see Mt Fuji right from Tokyo. Feb should be a good month for clear skies but it all depends on luck and weather conditions. Also it depends on how close you want to be. Lake Kawaguchiko offers a good scenery of Mt Fuji.

it is basically a day trip.

you can like go somewhere in that immediate area for a ryokan stay? The five lakes are pretty nice

Hmm that is going to a little tough

I can't think of a quick and easy way to get to Osaka from fujisan area given that train line from Tokyo to Osaka do not run through there.

you want to consider changing some things around?

EDIT:
okay there is a Shin-Fuji station. You can use that. Check on Hyperdia

Plenty to do at Fujisan area. refer Mount Fuji

for me a trip to mt fuji is a must, try to arrange in such a way that you can experience the kaiseki and onsen nearby there over a night stay. :zonia:

awesome experience.

do you join a day tour or walk on ur own?

I used japanican to book a bus tour, inclusive of the onsen etc. went up to level 5 or 6 of Mt.fuji. Very very good experience. I posted the FR with photos (back in 2012) (do a search if you want to see the photos / or find via the the sticky FR threads).

What would be recommended that case, because during Feb there will be no bus tour at all......? I want to make it a good one with my partner :(

Road to Level 5 will be closed if heavy snow in Feb.
