My laptop can't be powered on this morning. It just 'flash' on and powered off.
Since it looks like it is dying(pity its a highest end gaming laptop 4 years ago), I am thinking of buying a desktop to replace.
I need some help for selecting components. Anyone can recommend?

I am not up to date with desktop news and specs. Mainly for browsing and gaming sometimes. Hope to last around 4-5years.

I think I can savage
my 256 830 ssd
blu-ray disk drive
my kb/mouse
windows 7 pro/windows 8.1 pro
my tv

All I can think of i is my motherboards needs
not into overclocking.
sata 3
i7
at least 4 usb 3.0
4 ram slots (should get at least 2X8gb ram for a start)
5.1 sound(or a dedicated sound card?)
wifi ac if possible
A <$500 hdmi GPU (Maybe can expand into duo?)

budget <$2000

Are those gaming ram very good? Any shop can help me assemble if I just buy some main components.

Hi,
I am mainly playing Healthstone now.
Maybe in the future another hot game like Diablo 3(It was taxing on my i7 laptop last time when being spawned by enemy) in the future.

1) Games are GPU-taxing, not CPU-taxing

2) A current desktop i5 processor can perform just as good or better than a $999 i7 5960X in gaming

3) Laptop i7 =/= Desktop i7, Laptop i5 =/= Desktop i5

There you go.

Laptops are low powered based PC, the performance is not the same as a traditional desktop based.

So for recommendations on a Blizzards Entertainment Rig which is very less demanding on todays computer specs.

MSI B85 G43 Gaming + i5-4460 ~ $384
Gskills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $115
WD Blue 1tb ~ $67
Crucial MX100 256gb ~ $155
Powercolor r9 270 2gb Turbo Duo ~ $257
Superflower HX500 500w 80+ Gold Semi Modular PSU ~ $88
Sharkoon BD28 ~ $74
LG DVD Drive ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $115
Dell U2414H 23.8inch eIPS Panel ~ $340

Total ~ $1616. Buy at tradepac, DIY.
