I used to use a DVI to DVI connection from my PC to my Philips monitor and after I shutdown the PC, the monitor screen would also go to 'sleep'.
However, I've switched the connection from a DVI to HDMI (PC to monitor) by using a DVI-HDMI cable recently. The reason is because my monitor only has one DVI port, which I want to use to connect my work laptop to when I need to work at home, but that's besides the point.
Anyway, after changing the connection from DVI-DVI to DVI-HDMI, my monitor no longer goes to 'sleep' after I shutdown the PC. Instead I get the white box saying 'check cable connection' and I need to switch off the monitor manually. Why is that so and is there a way for me to get the monitor to 'sleep mode' after I shutdown the PC?
