Github for samples and test codes

Is Github a good place to stash those small projects and single file source code short example, short snippets, utility helper functions and test programs when learning some software languages, frameworks and libraries?

Granted that these programs are probably of no use to other people.

More like a disorganized personal repository of personal trash.

What do you think?

If you don't mind your codes are out for the public to see, I don't see anything wrong with it. Otherwise you are free to pay USD7/month to get a private repository from Github

Originally it's meant for open source projects to share useful codes. Just wondering if people use it for personal storage of useless codes.

github don't care, they wouldn't be able to decide if something you checked in is useful or just plain rubbish. So you are free to use it for personal use as long as you are willing to make it openly available, but perhaps you ought to be more careful with such things instead of github.

Yes, when I was in school it was even used to vc homework.
