Personal experience, Simba roaming in China (tried connecting to CM & CU), signal strength is ok, but data speed very slow. No experience with CMLink though.

SIMBA & CMLink works fine.
CMLink provides more data as compared to SIMBA.
So it depends on what you are looking for.

Connectivity is location & roaming partner dependent thus, with CMLink I presume better since its the "same company".

CUniq SG from China Unicom is providing good competition to CMLink!
And it provides eSIM which means I can use my usual telco in my phone without swapping SIM card.
Only con its using Starhub network.
More critical to me is the condition of the network coverage in China since I only intend to use this only for roaming in china and will terminate it after my China tour.

Any comments on China Unicom network coverage in China?

CMLink data connection in Xinjiang is very bad because of the restrictions set for the region.

Tried China Unicom HK in Xinjiang and connection is superb.

Alternatively buy China Mobile eSIM from Shopee. Equally good.

Otherwise, buy a local SIM card (need passport registration). E.g. a.friend bought China Unicom, 1 mth, 5G ntw, 40GB data, 700mins talk time at RMB 50; 50GB @ RMB 59; 70GB@RMB 80

Thanks for the good idea.
One of Shoppee seller had almost the same price for 10GB.

But will buying local SIM have problem using Whatsapp and Youtube?

I’m currently in China using CMLink and my wife using Simba. It used to be CMLink works better than Simba but somehow this time it’s the other way around. Every now and then my internet connection will drop despite showing 4g on my phone and it takes awhile to reconnect back.

Could it be a phone issue, unless both of u are using the same phone model.
