@butterpoachedlobster I was there last November (for about 10 days) and since I don't like tours, my stance on travelling is to always talk to locals/accommodation staffs. You can get free maps and just walk around the area.

Below is my itinerary (or something along that line since I can't recall everything now haha):

Day 1: Arrived in Yangon and stayed for a night in Chinatown. Walked around the city, got lost, went to the lake, and main Schwedagon Temple.
Day 2: Took a 3hr Circular Train ride around Yangon and checked out City Hall area. Night bus to Nyaung Schwe (Inle Lake village).
Day 3: Cycled around Nyaung Schwe and caught the traditional puppet show and night market.
Day 4: Boat trip in Inle Lake
Day 5: Decided to skip Mandalay and chillax and cycle around for another day in Inle. Night bus to Bagan.
Day 6: Cycled around New Bagan town.
Day 7: Checked out the temples in Bagan and failed attempt to catch sunset.
Day 8: Another failed attempt to catch sunrise. Checked out temples in Old Bagan. Night bus to Yangon
Day 9: Stayed in Little India area in Yangon. Checked out the market for last minute souvenir shopping, did a river cruise in evening (something like Changi Beach to Puau Ubin kinda distance).
Day 10: Afternoon flight back to Singapore

If I remembered correctly they have one board in local and another in English in all the bus stations. Otherwise you can just ask the counter staffs. I checked out the timings online so when I get there the first thing I did was purchase my bus tickets just to be safe.

An alternative to inter-city travel is to fly. Domestic flights are about SGD100 each way (3-4 years ago), and takes about 1 hour for the flight.

I did a free and easy tour, but got the company Vega Travel to book my tickets and hotels for me. Vega is in Peninsular Plaza and their staff are all Burmese, so they know the country well, and they have their HQ in Yangon.

Thank you for your itinerary

Where should we change SGD to Kyat?
Singapore money changer or Myanmar Yangon international airport?
Who has better rate?

Change at yangon airport.

The rates are much better.

Remember to change back to usd or sgd before u leave Myanmar.
Their currency depreciates fast.

Can I exchange USD note to crispy USD bill in Singapore money changer?
Will they change for me?
Or I go bank to change?

Reject if you think unclear.
I did that. So prepare some small notes as well.
10 and 5 are good. Dun face the rejection when you are there and stuck without cash.
