good and reliable cpu repair

no la.. no shoot la.. just telling him my honest opinion. when he mention cpu repair i tot wah... cpu spoilt not rma back meh.. so steady wan to repair.

and then he also mentioned he restarted the cpu, so i am assuming he must be referring to the whole computer instead.

Before you go down to Sim Lim, I suggest you try resetting the BIOS first. First try F2 on boot-up. If that doesn't work, try replacing the CMOS battery (big silver circle on motherboard). You can check the battery number and get a replacement at NTUC or any hardware shop.

Formatting the hard disk was a bad idea. It is probably corrupted now. Good thing that hard disks are cheap now so you can consider getting a replacement HD while at Sim Lim.
