As above, noticed that I cannot save offline on my Android phone. Taipei, Kaohisung, Hualien, Taichung all not able to save. Does everyone have the same problem?

My google map version is the latest, 8.x.

Thanks all for the options. I will try the offline options.

But no one has really answered why google map dun support taiwan offline. Is it technical challenges, lack of local regulatory approval or political consideration? If no answers, i will write to Google to demand an explanation.

Unlikely a bunch of ****ies like you lot, I will make it happen. What's so hard? They get so much data from us when we use android, gmail, they should listen. Otherwise, I will get out of the google eco-system and go APPLE on them. :s13:

I am also trying to find Larry Page and Sergey Brin email too. Google Singapore if I can find too. I demand an explanation yesterday already. What's the delay?

Make my life difficult in Taipei.

They (google) ought to pay me to bring this to their attention. They collect my data through Android and Gmail and through GMaps. Do you know how much our personnel data is worth to them?

It's not about expensive or cheap. I prefer to have offline backup.

Make my life difficult in Taipei.

If it's for the purpose of having it as an offline backup, how is not having it making life difficult for you? Why don't you get the hard copy maps? Hard copy maps shouldn't fail you.

Also if you aren't happy with Google taking your personal data or the worth of it, you have the choice not to use it.

Well, i just want to know why from google. Why should i seek alternatives or just be diam diam about it? Because I am just a small fry? As the wise George Lam once said, you should try to change the enviroment to suit you than change yourself to suit the enviroment.

A friend helped me get the hardcopy maps from the Taiwan tourism office here but I don't intend to bring. Never like fiddling with paper maps.

You didn't answer my question on how/why it's making life difficult for you when it's a backup.

People seek alternatives in life, becos they are flexible, resourceful and adaptable.

No one said you have to keep quiet about it. You can ask Google (nicely) about it instead of demanding to know. Same logic you have, you don't like hardcopy maps, don't use/bring so you don't like Google having your personal data, don't use. Simple as that. Don't use already, be unhappy and then start making demands. You have a choice.

I want tight integration with my phone instead of installing another app for it, which I will invariably not use when I travel to another country.

Hmm... I am a freq flyer due to work. Unplanned incidents, weather etc have dealt with before... can lah. Just use mouth ask, rejig plans.

We have to agree to disagree here. Ok, okay maybe using demanding sound harsh but i am the type to want things get done and an explanation why if it isn't. Its just my way (push people to do what I want, concede n use alternative as last resort).

Ok, need to board plane now.
