I used WAZE and drove up to Royal Belum in Perak, stopping in many small towns along the way. Found it to be accurate and gives ample time for changes.
Waze is useful especially on NSHW with the speed cam warning and road work alert~ but if you travelling to ulu location with little network, better download google offline map just incase~

you are right. I took the kampung road from Taiping to Lenggong and my kids kept complaining they are thrown off their online games driving wise is ok since as long as you don't turn into those non-paved side roads will eventually reach some kampungs with network coverage. Intermittent coverage for sure.
But yes, good suggestion to download offline google map for my next road trip.
