Ya I agree with you. However, I prefer the new system because I find push up and sit up easier to train to get the full 50 points, then to train 2.4km in order to hit the Gold timing under the old system. Push up and sit up can train in my room every night, running harder, especially since i need the track to more accurately determine my timing.

On a side note, I compare to the US Army standard, I feel that our Singapore standard is harder haha: United States Army Physical Fitness Test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

to get the full 50 points, you need to do 60 push ups in 1 min and 60 sit ups in 1 min.

do you have any idea how fast you would have to be in order to do 1 per second...

based on the 1st pic, have to get a min score of 13pts for push-up and sit-up and run 13:50min for 2.4km in order to pass for cat y and 14min for cat y1.

pass timing for 2.4km are better than the previous one.

After analyzing the Scoring,

I believe the new IPPT system is decided by someone who don't train the bottom muscles.

aka only train show-off muscle group.

Push up = Chest Muscles + Top Muscles.
Sit-up = Abs/pacs Muscles.
2.4KM run on flat running track, stressing mainly on heart Lungs.

If you take a look in public gym, you should be able to notice chicken leg issue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have notice the score for cat X (age of 24):

Sit-up A = > 39
2.4KM A = > 10.21

New System:
Situp @ 40 = 20 Points
2.4km @ 10.10 = 40 Points
Push up @ 40 = 20 Points

So sum of 3 station (2.4km + situp + push up) = 80 points

So there is no known loophole that really can be abuse by NSF.

Even elites, score of > 85 is about Gold + in old IPPT system.

the standards are not fixed yet, they are analyzing some 3000 soldiers before setting it.

we are training to be more efficient on the battlefield not competing for manhunt to see who got nice toned legs.

upper body is to be able to carry heavy load and able to run fast. as long you can run fast who is going to care if you got chicken leg or nice toned legs.

This "new" system is almost the same as what the US Army uses.
I like it as there are a TON of youtube videos to follow training for free from many US soldiers.

I'm assuming you can't score Zero for any station, otherwise it's a automatic fail?

Also, the charts are "More than" sign, so it's 51 points total to pass.

what do they mean by this?

according to CNA

WHY EXTEND THE IPPT WINDOW TO 12 MONTHS?

Under the proposed changes, an NSman’s window to take and pass his IPPT is up to a full year from the current nine months, with a further 12 months to complete remedial training. The reason: Flexibility of scheduling, said MG Lim.

“When we give our NSmen up to 12 months to train for their IPPT and up to 12 months to complete their RT sessions, we also encourage them that they need to do it regularly. That means that you don’t space out all your sessions across all 12 months, but we do tell them that you need to do it within a certain period. It’s just that giving them 12 months will give them some flexibility. They still need to exercise regularly, at least twice a week,” said the Chief of Army.

that means 12 months to take ippt and IPT, if fail, then next window, must clear ippt + IPT + RT all within 12 months? what is the difference actually?

I just saw on facebook cyberpioneer all the extra money and extra 3 months things will kick in on 1st sept.

For the extra 3 months to clear IPPT, they say for those still in your IPPT window on sept 1, you will be given 3 more months, means I can pass latest by June instead of March right :( ? (my birthday in june)

But for the extra money they say this "The new rewards will apply to NSmen with birthday windows starting from 1 Sep 2014"

Means I go take no extra 100 dollars :vijayadmin: ?

I assume the current system is 9 months to clear or else RT for the last 3 months.
New system allows you 12 months to clear and the next 12 months to do RT. So from this new window onwards if you can't pass, you will still RT forever, but you have 12 months to complete it.
But the RT phase is still 3 months? So you must finish this 3 months within that 12 months or get charged?

Is that right?
