Still need to consider mobo and psu. If one does not have these requirements in hand, it will be more costly since need to change.

Is there a very big difference from 280 to 970? The price different around 100+!~ 200
How about 290? Advice please. Haha

Hi there,
Here's my 2 cents. Go read the reviews. Look at the bench marks. Pay attention to the frame rates and monitor resolution of games your going to play using the gfx. If your gonna turn on a lot of AA/AF(Eye candy), again look at the frame rate and resolution of the monitor for that bench mark with AA/AF on.
What you will noticed is that the frame increase is not really a lot between the cards. ;)

Driver wise. Both have good days and bad days. If the new driver is not good, install back the previous driver and wait for another one to come out.

Eye candy. This will depend on the game developer on which gpu/architecture they choose. And there will be better details of eye candy based on the gpu/architecture.

Price: I feel that nvidia is more pricier compared to AMD/ATI. But that has not stop me from buy nvidia.

Performance: Both are ok lah.Times have changed. Technology has advanced. Not like in the old days where you need to overclock, vmod to get better overclocking, run watercooling, etc.

Which one to get?
Check the price, compare it and look for discounts/offers(X'max sale, Credit card 0% installment free for 12 months, etc.) Don't forget after sales support should you need to RMA.

Currently anything above 400 bucks budget just get GTX 970 full stop.

If below 400 then the R9 280X.

But if you can wait for a while the GTX 960 will be out soon. Performance is around R9 280X to R9 290. Or GTX 770 to GTX 780.
