Replan.
Taitung 3Days is good.
Winter, no best place to go.

One day along the eastern coast.
Second day can do rift valley up to chishang or head to 知本 for hot spring.
If you have car access, can go to 多良車站。

I saw video on puyuma … just realised ride really jerky! (maybe only during tilt?!) Dunno if it's the same for taroko express tilt train. Read many taiwan rail enthusiasts don't regard puyuma as true tilt train

so why you prefer taroko express?

after some watching some public discussion, puyuma disaster not fair to put entirely on driver's fault. but the top seems to put all blame on driver alone. they are seriously understaffed. there suppose to be 2 drivers on board but yet he was working alone. and when he reported faults twice, yet no one steps in to assist him

if taroko express got only 1 driver, i also don't want to take

More stable.
Seats more comfortable.
When u need to travel, you will just buy tickets and skip all this puyuma/taroko thnig.
Ppl need to go back to taitung, is all they care.
Give them local train, also will take.
As long as they can get home.

Puyuma and Taroko express both are under same management TRA. Similar to our MRT, when no problem, no body know, when things happen, management problem are dig out.
You go for holiday don't think so much, either take Taroko train or bus. Puyuma is out.
