Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my GPU and like some suggestions.

Would GTX 970 or the new AMD cards be a better choice?

If GTX 970, which would be a better buy?

MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC, ASUS Strix, or Palit JetStream?

Thanks.

Depends on the display you using and also the target fps and game setting you looking at.

Do you need a gpu now? If can, wait awhile. Although the specs on the new AMD 300 series are impressive, it may or may not translate to real world performance. Wait for benchmarks to show up. This way, you can make a more informed decision. If they are more powerful than the GTX 970, you can also expect the 970 to drop in price even if a little

not say exactly in real need to change right away..

past experience with AMD cards are that they are really hot.. hopefully this time round the heat produced will be slightly lower and comparable with nvidia

They are rated to run at that temps. The current 390x is the old 290x rebadged. But higher clocked and with 8gb vram. Also with AIB partners. They redesigned the custom cooler for the 390x. Although it is rated at 94deg. They managed to cut down to a mere 8xdeg range.

So if you are still afraid of the heating issues then just go for 970 then.

Basically is either you go 970 or straight to 390x.

390x is already a 980 level. So see what you really want.

If you intend to play fast fps games then the 390x is for you. Else a 970 will do.
