You never heard of the catchphrase "Malaysia boleh"? It means cowboy town - many places they don't care about the law and do their own thing.

The cyclist is going straight and has right of way - of cos that will not help him in a crash and its better to do 'defensive' cycling and slow down in case some idiot / new driver want to turn dangerously.
