Can someone recommend some places of interest to go in Hainan for a 5D4N stay? Perhaps a recommended itinerary?

Also, any cheap and good hotel to recommend??

went hainan island during last month ...
seems like their domestic flights would have air bridge, not international flights ... we saw jetstar and scoot both times without air bridge ...

Hotel reviews were generally not fantastic ...
many hotel rooms on agoda was 6+ rating, which was quite bad
unless u are staying international chain hotels, perhaps rating would be better
stayed at 4* hotel, 150+ rooms , paid about $52 for room with tub and breakfast ... reasonable price for a 35m2 room ...

took a cab from airport to my hotel in the city, near carrefour ...
about 70rmb and 100 rmb respectively ...
taxi price start at 10rmb onwards ...
Bus is 1rmb no matter how many stops u are taking ...

Is it safe to take taxi in Hainan?
Do the drivers follow the meter or must the fare be agreed upon before commencement of the journey?

Both have their charms. Sanya is very touristic, serving the mainland tourist market especially in the winter months. You can see that most of the listed attractions of Hainan are located at or around Sanya. Haikou and other towns exhibit more of the Nanyang influence reflecting its history as a ancestral homeland for many Chinese in south-east Asia. A few old streets in Haikou have architecture reminiscent of Singapore and Penang. It is also a port city with connections to the mainland. In fact, there is a train ferry to Guangdong. Both Haikou and Sanya have large shopping malls with international brands, but Haikou still retains some local traditional businesses and crafts.

For my haikou trip, bought the sim from qoo10 ... then use there
was ok ... one way trip from airport to hotel (around carrefour area) is $10+ sgd ... the city bus is about 1rmb per trip ...

For jetstar, they are not using air bridge for both of our flights ... u have to walk down the stairs with your handcarry, then take a bus to the immigration ...
