What I know so far:
- Microkernel OS
+ Distributed Soft-Bus design to connecting multiple devices, share resources, collaborate.
+ Linux layer to run old Andriod apps.
- Application storage space highly reduced compared to Andriod. Same app abt <50% space
- No more lag problem over-time like Andriod.
- Runs on Phone, Watch, Microwave, Washing machine etc.
- Super device feature :
Eg 1 Phone + Tablet : Display can sync, extend. 2 way control. Documents drag and drop across device.
Eg 2 Phone + Huawei Monitor: Become like a desktop Pc, without having windows.
Other examples Phone + Watch, Drone, Microwave oven, washing machine etc

Just sharing. Can consolidate all info here. Nope, i am not paid.

Moblie linking with Matepad, laptop, watch, TV demo-ed:

Update:
1) a) Mobile + MatePad & laptop b) MatePad linking demo.

Inter-device screen sharing-merging, drag-and-drop files across devices, like in minority report.
@ middle of video below.

In another video, Huawei Mobile can be used on Huawei Monitor, which turn it into a desktop Os, without windows.

I have a feeling this will success and pose a threat to both iOS and Android.
With CN population, their own people use its enough to keep it alive

Need to be able to used outside China to succeed.
Google GMS is a barrier. But if they succeed to move beyond China, it will be a threat to Andriod and Google services itself.

Opensource or partial open source already.
They call it OpenHarmony now.
Released in China to major vendors like Tencent, Xiaomi etc.
Not sure how it works afaik, or release to outside China yet.

Quote:
OpenHarmony is an open-source version of HarmonyOS donated by Huawei to the OpenAtom Foundation. It is based on Huawei's LiteOS microkernel, and is designed for running on IoT devices with less than 128 MB of memory.[30]
Huawei stated that it planned to release the source code for the entirety of HarmonyOS by October 2021
