Hadyai is good for short trips, to shop for basic things and to eat and have massages.

Lee had just recovered from fire. Any other hotels recommendation in Hatyai

sorry just to ride on this thread. wa's there to buy in hatyai?as in songkla city istself i see there's some shoppnig centres like odean & some local markets.

thinking of getting something for my wife. are e items like same in bangkok?

If you are going to Hatyai thinking that you will get cheaper stuff, then you are going to be disappointed. Hatyai is a tourist area. few locals are based in Hatyai as such, most of the stuff are more expensive than Bangkok. The items are very similar as well..

Shopping centers in hatyai are those departmental stores. Nothing much unless you want to buy items which are more expensive than bangkok. Unless you go tesco which is also pointless.

Only thing cheaper is the air ticket there, hotel and the tuk tuk.

But, I still prefer hatyai as it is less congested than bangkok

there's a big market but you need tuk-tuk to reach there.

Spending 2 nites at LGP. It is nothing as normal. Understand that it was another L that was bombed. Security is tight at L. All entrances have metal detectors and bags are searched before you enter the building. Similarly at the Central, metal detectors and bags are searched before entrance. Business is as usual. Going back to sg tomorrow.

Lee Garden Plaza with the shopping and mac is the one that got bomb. thats why novotel sold the hotel or transfer to other name after the bombing as it was next to Lee Garden Plaza.
