hdmi input no signal

There appear to be some problem with my monitor. All this while have been using VGA but recently when i try to connect some device using the hdmi input it shows "no signal". Problem narrowed down to monitor since this hdmi connection works on another monitor. What could be the cause of this malfunction?.

What is the model?. Likely logic board of the monitor

Sorry there is a mistake. What i wanted to say was, the hdmi cable is not faulty as it can work on another hdmi application. The problem narrowed down to either my Desktop or Monitor.

Monitor : HP2311F

Desktop : Compaq
