Had been using a Steelseries siberia Elite Headphone, Which uses an standalone soundcard usb. However i dont think it should be the cause. By looking at the description of blue screen viewer. It said that its most likely caused by ntoskrnl.exe . Im sorry, but im a newbie when its involved with BSOD. Went down to SLS to had it tested , but all of the parts inside that were tested seemed fine. Brought it home on the same day but it still crashed.

i normally play Dota 2 and WoW only. And it seemed to crash much more when i used the headphones. i remembered it also caused playback errors when i was playing dota 2. it just stopped giving sound suddenly.

Hope any pro's here could help me solve this issue for me , its giving me a huge headache. Thanks in advance :o

oh yes, my comp does hang occasionally at times when i am playing WoW. and my WoW also crashes frequently with memory reference errors!:s11:

1) Reseat your RAM.

2) Use clean eraser to clean gold contacts on RAM.

3) Download and run Memtest86+ to test your RAM.

4) What PSU are you using?

Did all of it , had it cleaned in SLS. even had it fully overloaded with graphic test and ram test for at least 3 hours. There was no BSOD at all.

my psu is cooler master extreme 2 525

If you had sent your rig for repairs, cleaned out your rig, done all your stress tests and you are still getting BSODs, change out your PSU. Cooler Master's Extreme 2 PSUs are terrible PSUs. Here's a review of the 475W version to show what I mean:

Cooler Master Extreme 2 475 W Power Supply Review | Hardware Secrets

A low quality PSU can cause you to have various random issues like sudden restarts, BSODs, stuff acting weird and may cause premature component failure.

Get a good quality PSU like the Seasonic S12G 550W Non-Modular PSU for $105. If you have got $$$ issues, can also get the FSP Aurum S 500W for $89 or the Seasonic S12II 520W PSU for $85 instead.

sorry but may i ask how does it lead to Blue screen of death? What does ntoskrnel.exe do? has it have something to do with the PSU? i've been trying find out what is causing this BSOD. it seems that it crashes anytime or even cause my comp to hang at times. feeling helpless here.

ntoskrnel.exe is part of your Windows Kernel(ie. your OS). Issues with the Windows Kernel can be caused by anything, but the usual suspect of this type of error is your RAM. However, since you have got your entire rig checked out with no issues, your PSU is the next suspect.

OK, you see, the components in your system, they do not actually run on 240V AC, you know. Your rig components mainly uses 12V DC with some of them also using 5V and 3.3V DC. To convert 240V AC from the wall plug into the DC needed by your rig, you need a PSU.

However, not all PSUs are created equal. There are good quality PSUs, and bad quality PSUs. Good quality PSUs are capable of excellent voltage and ripple control. This means that if the component needs 12V DC power, the PSU is capable of supplying power that is as close to 12V as possible.

Bad quality PSUs are known for bad voltage and ripple control. This means that in this case, the PSU is unable to supply close to 12V of power into the component. Instead, the PSU ends up supplying power that is somewhere between 11V to 13V of power(or worse). This is bad for electronics because your components are unable to obtain the appropriate voltage required for operation and thus helping to contribute to BSODs, system freezes and random restarts as they are unable to operate properly. Eventually, this bad voltage will also help contribute to premature component failure as well.

Thus, it is better to change out your PSU as soon as possible before your PSU does any permanent damage to your components.

Thank you for explaining so much to me! I learned alot from it ! Sorry for being so newb to hardware. Am a gamer but only know that pittle bit about hardwares. So i assume that once i switch my psu . To seasonic s12 non modular . I should not be getting any error messages ? I had it fully stressed out when i went to SLS. Ram and graphic cards fully stressed out for 3 hours straight . No bsod"s at all. But the moment i went home and plugged in my headphones . It started to give me bsod. I then switched to another headphone that doesnt require usb. It still crashes and hang. so i was wondering what to do to better solve this issue . Was really frustrating using a comp that might crash anytime.i

Can't guarantee that the BSODs won't come back, but at least the better power supply will help make your system more stable and also help eliminate a potential source of problems because as mentioned, low quality PSUs can potentially cause lots of random stuff to occur to your rig and troubleshooting can be tricky when you have no idea if it is hardware fault or just unstable power from a low quality PSU.

Also, first time that I have heard of headphones (even ones using 3.5'' audio jack?) causing BSODs. :s22:

Do you also get BSODs when you connect your headphones to the motherboard ports at the back of the casing as well?

Yeah it crashed using the back of the motherboard too . But i doubt it does so . There was once my comp hanged and i restarted but it did a chkdsk instead . Really unsure of what to do now .

Change the PSU first and see if your system becomes more stable after the PSU swap.

besides hw/ram, did u also investigate if its related to drivers? eg ensure both onboard realtek & ur steelseries drivers are latest.
or try uninstall steelseries drivers & sw just to see if bsods are related to them.
