I am using Acer aspire E500 desktop. I bought a Kingston ddr2 2gb ram and installed it together with another 1gb ram but my computer doesn't boot up. But when I put in any other ram that is 2gb or less, my comp works. I called Acer helpline and they said the desktop only supports till 2gb of ram only. The desktop uses gigabyte gvm-900 and states that it can support up to 4gb or ram. Can any1 advice me on how to resolve this issue or to increase the capacity? Like updating the bios? If not I have to sell away my ram:(

Most of these DDR2-era motherboards supports only a limited variety brands of 2GB module as 2GB RAM sticks are rather uncommon.

Have you tried booting up with just that newly-bought single 2GB stick installed (without the original 1GB stick)? Perhaps incompatibility with the 1GB RAM stick occurs since your motherboard does supports Kingston DDR2-667 2GB stick along with your Pentium D 930.
