Hey guys, I cant get my comp to power up. After I re plug the power socket and PSU cable (on/off the PSU as well), I manage to power up my comp for like 5sec b4 it shuts down again.

I've check the cables inside and outside, nth was loose or broke. I clean up my rig, remove the dust, and check the PSU itself. It looks fine from the outside, no burnt smell or mark. Same goes for other visible part. After waiting awhile, I tried powering up again but same prob. Within 5sec it shuts down. Happens a few tme b4 I stop trying.

I thinking the PSU is spoilt but could it be other parts? How do I comfrim if its the psu..

Im using a seasonic 750w 80plusgold. The whole rig is close to 3 years old. Im using hd5850, i5 processor, 1xhdd, and I dun OC.

Any advice how to solve this? Thanks. Appreciate any advice.

Ahhh... I took out ram1...same prob. Put ram 1 back remove ram 2...better...can power up for 20sec. Remove both ram...power up 5mins and counting. So I guess it the ram prob. Any good ram to recommend?

Im using kingston. I change the ram slot..got 4 alot altogether. So I put ram2 into slot 1 is ok. When I put in ram1 into slot3...cant power up so I guess its ram1.

But now...with 1 ram...after powering up...I got a blank screen. Windows dosent seems like its booting up...no sound heard. Jialat...haha

Boot with only ram 2 or borrow from ur friend to try.

I guess so too. Now I put the good ram into slot 2...viola! Whatever works...haha.

If I were to get another ram..must it be the same brand and same 1333. Or advisable to just get another 2x4gb because I just realise mine is 2gb stick

The MSI P55-GD85 Motherboard uses DDR3 DIMM PC3-8500 1066MHz, PC3-10600 1333MHz memory upgrades.

what does this means? i know my mobo has 4 slot, each slot max is 4gb.
any reco for bang for buck ram...looking at 2x4

Ram prices went up recently.
Do you really need 8GB?
if so, look for a compaitable one with your current working one.

Why don't you just use Hiren's Boot CD and run a memtest?

Whats that?

Anyway I bought 2 x 2gb ram, similar to my spoilt ram. No problem starting up the comp, however when I using the comp...the whole pc auto shuts down. The windows will start logging off. Not the kind when the power suddenly get cut off. What might the prob?

I wanted to test if its the ram slot itself but im facing some prob.basically theres 4 slot at my mobo, 1234 (black, blue black blue).originally I was using slot 1 n 3. When I try to put the ram in alot 2 n 4, my comp can power up but theres no respone..blank screen.is there some setting that I must twitch?
Thanks

My mobo is p55-gd85.
