Hi, need some advice regarding 2 components:
1) Motherboard: MSI B85-G41 or MSI Z97 (+$50)
2) Processor: Xeon 4th Gen E3-1225 V3 Turbo or Intel i7-4790 (+$200)

Not sure if it's worth it to fork out the additional cost.. any bros can help? I do some light gaming (Starcraft, Overwatch) but mostly will use to surf net. Would like a PC where its fast speed can be sustained for a long time. Don't want to encounter any overheating problems as well.

Rest of setup:
Win 10 Pro
8GB DDR3 Ram
OCZ 550W power supply
256GB SSD
2TB HDD
Gigabyte GTX-1050 Ti

Thx!

Thanks, I'm intending to buy 2nd hand. Unable to get Ryzen 5 as the seller only has those 2 processors

Lemme improvise from a quote I did at another thread.

CASE: Tecware F3 Elite $55
MOBO+CPU: MSI B350M Mortar + AMD Ryzen 5 1600 $468
RAM: Crucial Valueram DDR4 2400MHz 8GB $88
PSU: EVGA GD 650W $129
SSD: Samsung EVO 850 M.2 250GB $149
HDD: Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm $63
GPU: Zotac GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Single Fan $225
OS: Windows 10 Home $12 via Carousell

TOTAL: $1189

Prices quoted from PC Themes or otherwise stated.

Prices above are SRP and it's not subjected to any kind of discount yet.

If you're really really really strictly going for 2nd hand parts, do look out at the IT Garage Sales and CPU/Motherboard/RAM section here at HWZ. I'm pretty sure got a couple of people offloading the mobo and cpu, which do have AMD Ryzen 5 1600 as well.

Don't get stuck with just one seller. Look around and price WILL be better.

Sent from PM me if you wanna build a DIY PC or wanna learn how to make one yourself :D using GAGT

1) Depends on which MSI Z97 MB
2) Not worth it. $200 is quite a high premium for 4C/8T instead of 4C/4T and a 400Hz bump in clock speed.
