Ran CSGO with mostly high setting for 2hours.

With such CPU temp 73-74C on the image above should I re-seat my CPU HSF, clean with isopropyl alcohol (70% alcohol) and reapply thermal paste?

Also I have used speedfan and set my fanspeed all to 80%.

It is so normal lah bro. Dont be paranoid by the temps. Idle should range from 40-45deg. Load on 70-75deg

Do not compare your cpu temp with the ang moh country benchmark temp test. Theirs are definitely lower due to much lower ambient temp.

Erm..., the thing is, TS has told me in his PM that during installation of the heatsink, he had reseated the heatsink about twice for adjustment and fitting purposes and I am concerned that the thermal paste may have been compromised with air bubbles in the paste.

To make things worse, TS have also told me that when playing a certain 32-bit graphic MMORPG, his CPU temps can shoot up to 100C. I do not think that this is very healthy for the CPU.

Get a third party HSF if using the stock cooler.

Then best bet, prime95. Check will it shoot up to 90deg or more on only the first step.

If it does. Then remove the heatsink and clean off with either alcohol or zippo. Both gives the same result. Zippo cheaper though.

If it doesnt it could be a 32bit game that utilize only 1 core.

Isn't Prime95 a bit too strong for the puny Intel stock cooler? I have seen many recommendations on various forums not to use Prime95 with the Intel stock cooler.

Oh, TS did say that using Prime95 caused his CPU temps to shoot up to 100C within 10s though.

stock HSF is never design for stress test. 73-74C for gaming is perfectly normal.

Ok..after reading the replies on this thread. Am alittle confused now as some of you say its not design for stress test and some say its adequate.

Conclusion is that 73-74C is perfectly fine for gaming right. And at what temp should I be worried at? 80C?

Could it be also windows compatibility caused my CPU to shoot up to 100C on an old game MMORPG running on 32bit?

As am using windows 8.1..not really a stable windows yet yes?

Thanks everyone for the replies.
