hi, i've been considering getting a new laptop for poly, which i'm starting this year, since the laptop i own now is a macbook pro (early 2015 model) and doesn't meet the recommended specs. i've asked about the recommended specs and they told me:

"Graphic card of at least 4GB memory GTX 1050/1060
Ram memory of 16GB"

(i personally think a 950/960 is sufficient)

the softwares the course uses are mostly adobe programmes such as photoshop, after effects etc. and also microsoft project 2016 and visual studio.

i would definitely prefer not to get a new laptop and use my macbook if possible, but i'm not sure if it can handle the programmes. if it can't, any recommendations for what model should i get for a new laptop? i've looked through the poly's laptop promos and for some reason most of them don't meet the recommended specs (especially in the gpu segment) and even if they do (which so far i've seen is like one model" it's over my budget (less than 2k preferably).

I don't think you need to get a new laptop. 4gb gtx 1050 only when you intend to run multiple monitor. Not sure if your macbook pro can run adobe smoothly thought. Visual studio should be no problem.
