*HELP* Internal harddisk recovery.

Hello all,

I have an internal HDD that has failed. I have purchased a new HDD with OS to bootup my computer.

When I insert my old HDD into my computer (on a 2nd SATA port) after bootup. I can find my old HDD in the device manager (it shows no problems found with the driver), I was able to detect the HDD however but it doesn't show in "My Computer". So apparently my HDD has not completely failed right ? I have gone to "Computer management" as advised on the internet but I was not able to see my old HDD details as well.

Here my question: Is there any way I could fix my disk without incurring professional help?

Or Can I still get it fix at a price below its cost price while retaining the data inside?

R-click on 'my computer', click 'manage', click 'disk management'.

see whether ur HDD can be seen there.

backup all the data from that HDD and prepare to throw away.

Connect the old HDD before you boot up the system, not after you boot up unless you use the old HDD as external drive via USB enclosure.

R-click on 'my computer', click 'manage', click 'disk management'.

see whether ur HDD can be seen there.

backup all the data from that HDD and prepare to throw away.

TS did that but the old HDD is not listed in Disk Management.

It's not strange. Your PCB is not faulty and can be detected by your device manager. But your partition table or your disk hardware is not functioning and cannot be booted up. So you cannot see it in the disk management or my computer.

With your old and new hdd installed in the PC before power on:

please go into bios first and set the primary boot harddisk to your new one.

Give it a try now.

if it still hangs(double check if you selected the correct disk)

If still hang, then I think your harddisk is already screwed up.

1 way to salvage the disk is to borrow an enclosure and see if you can format it or something but honestly I think might as well get a new one or just forget about it

If you really think your PCB is burn.

You could purchase the PCB board from:

I replace my HDD PCB when it burn right infront of me -_-"

Anyway manage to get it replace and remove the data and replace back the faulty PCB send it back for RMA.

Most of all you need to find the matching PCB.

You could also try ubuntu to see if its able to see your drive. I got a problem with my old WD drive manage to save it using ubuntu. You have to google for more info.
