Did you try video out? My 15" MBP works when video out, but if using LCD screen, nothing appears.

That's about 6 years ago, which I sold off the MBP for parts.

Never try... Video out no extra monitor.

Apple service provider has a self-boot diagnostic software that can run test to detect known GPU issue on certain MacBook 2011 and 2012 models. If the test results are okay, then yours is not the GPU.

I am guessing your MacBook has both the Intel graphics and a discrete GPU chip. Depending on your booting configuration, that horizontal bar of what looks like scrambled colored pixels will sometimes appear on initial boot of your machine, and is normal; I suspect that it occurs depending on which graphics sub-system initializes first during boot-up.

Why don't you try creating an external boot hard disk with OS X installed and test your system booting to it since the technician says it's your internal hard disk?

I just got it repair on the MotherBoard. They change to brand new Motherboard. Also test on the spot to see if the problem still there.. RED lines during start up.

BUT still same problem still there.. I ask the person says the macOS Sierra have this problem and many users also have the same probem. Wait for APPLE to come out new version to solve it.

SO.. does it really cause the problem? Or the person just anyhow give me answer?

There shouldn't be any red lines during start up; more so a replacement has been made on your Mac.

I'm not convinced with the reason that Sierra has this problem.

initially u said AASP told u it was HDD but now u said u replaced mobo so which is which?
