Hello Guys,

I was surfing net well on last Saturday and shut down as per normal. Then come Sunday when I turn on my PC again, I am unable to connect to the Internet. The error I got is "Realtek Network Controller Not Found".

MB: ASUS P8Z77-MPRO

I had did the following but still unable to connect.

1. Reset router, change LAN Cable. Mobile phone is able to connect to wifi and surf thus assume router is still working.

2. Go into BIO and verify that OnBoard LAN is enabled.

3. In normal window 7 mode, under Device Manager. I am unable to find Network Adapter. Try to install Realtek Network Controller driver but encounter the error "The realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable."

4. Go into Safe Mode, under Device Manager. Can see the Network Adapter but encounter the same controller not found error when I tried to install the driver.

5. Shut down PC, remove all cards and ram, unplug PSU and wait for 30 mins. Then insert back everything and login. Still cannot find the controller.

Anyone can advise how to recover my internet and the Newwork Controller?
Thanks. :(

If this fail, RMA the motherboard if still under warranty. Else get a PCIE gigabit network to get back the Lan connection.

No longer under warranty, just past the 3 yr mark. Also I have one PCI network card (the old type short connection) and my MB slot is the PCIE16 or something like that.

By right should be able to slot in but somehow, the length is slightly short from the edge of the MB thus unable to slot the pci card into the slot. :(

You can remove the bracket. I had the same problem with a PCI wireless card.

Anyway, from Device Manager, right-click on "Computer" and select "scan for hardware changes" to auto-detect the network adapter. If auto-detect fails, you should be able to manually search for network adapters.

Since you can see the network adapter in BIOS, it is probably a Windows problem.

did any of the solutions work? I'm curious.

Nope. Last night I did a scan but no network adapter appear. I also resetted CMOS and still the same.

However I do notice that I can "view" the Network adapters by View -> Show hidden devices but there are quite a few adapters (believe should be common one?). I did a comparison to my office pc and found that my office pc already showing some network adapter even without showing the hidden which make me believe those hidden one are standard window adapter?

Maybe tonight go install my old pci network card see how lor. Or worst case format lor but don't know even format will recover it or not... :(

Just a quick update. Long short, format all don't work. Tried to install network card just to realise it is an old pci card.... Anyway, just got a cheap pcie network card and everything Internet is back.

Got to reinstall some updates and programs back cos of the format though...

Conclusion: MB network chip gg.
:o
