Help with 1.5K PC Build

Hi to all the master here. Need some advice on building my first gaming/working PC. Say sorry first if other people already posted this topic a thousand time.

Currently using a 6 years old ASUS N76 laptop with NVIDIA GT 650M (Uusing for FPS, COD/BF , Citi Skyline and also Flight Sim) with photo editing.

Want to build a gaming PC as i'm sick of playing FPS in med setting and super low FPS on my sim game. Did some research and found out getting AMD is better then intel if you are on a budget.

What i need from the PC is 1080 gaming, no need 4k.
Able to play FPS and Sim Game in high setting
Able to process photo editing
Best if the parts can be upgraded for future
BUDGET 1.5K and if can include monitor is the best.
Don't need fancy case with RGB lighting

Lastly, would want to get everything in one shop as it easier for me to do claiming. And i want to build my own PC too.

just go to simlim, almost every major shop is able to build you one at your budget. their flyer should have some basic so just pick n choose what to upgrade.

my build for your reference: all for $1825 at dynacore (inclusive of a 16gb toshiba flashdrive):

ryzen series has more core and threads for cheaper price against a intel series cpu

I choose msi b450 over others since I won't overclock much, decent vrm speed and inbuilt WiFi.

16gb (8gb x 2) is a must. although 2666mhz would suffice for your needs.

opt for a rx580 radeon sapphire for your gpu instead if u going 1.5k budget. performance wise its good for the money and absolutely no prob with 1080p gaming.

fractal design case is really good for cable management. but if u r not going rgb lighting, u may be able to find a normal casing at much lower price.

- psu wise u can ask for the salesperson recommendation, but usually I definitely will go for gold 80+.

monitor wise prism+x240 looks pretty good. 144hz 1080p at $289 now.

alternatively, go search for this tech deals channel on youtube, this angmoh guy really teaches u all the right stuffs and knowledge to help u make decisions on parts to buy.

Swap the RAM to Corsair LPX 3200Mhz is atleast $20 cheaper but IMO The Corsair LPX 3000Mhz CL15 is the sweet spot @ $189 vs Trident Z RGB @ $225

1. 27 inch sa0 acer ips 1080p monitor (209sgd) ips screen for better colour accuracy. But its just a general idea in the past that ips had the best colour accuracy but due to technological advancements nowadays that might not be the case anymore

2. ryzen 2600 6 core 12 threads (chosen over the intel counterparts due the the multiple threads allowing you to multitask better, and still having great performance in games. Chosen over the 2600x as spending an extra 80 dollars for the X does not justify it)

3 B450 aorus pro wifi, No particular reason for this board except its cheap, looks good, has wifi and bluetooth. CPU+BOARD (420sgd)

4 16 gb of ram. Corsair vengence LPX 2666mhz (172 sgd). WHY 2666mhz? Cause the 3000mhz is 17 dollars more, and the 3200mhz is 33 dollars more. Performance increase in games may just differ 5-10% (which may be alot in some cases) but personally overclocking the ram can be a real gamble and a pain in the ass.

5 Corsair CX 650W modular Bronze rated psu (112sgd) no real reason for this choice, i just chose the cheapest choice for bronze modular above 650w (you can upgrade the graphic card pretty high end with this psu, im personally running a 1080ti on a 650w no problems.)

6 500gb SSD, WD Blue m.2 (110sgd)

7 NZXT H500 case (115sgd)

that amounts to a total of 1138 leaving your 362sgd for your graphic card of your choice. But what i would actually do is actually buy a 2nd hand 1070ti off the market (one with warranty) Best performance/price option right now.

But if you want a brand new card, You can pick either a gtx1060 6gb galax, or a rx580 8gb. Both are great choices at 1080p. But the 1070ti really bulldozes over both of them

For PSU, i rather get superflower eco silver 600w. Much more reliable than Corsair's low end CX range. If wanna get corsair psu, at least RMi series. If not, just get superflower which is also OEM to corsair.

Current gen Ryzen with AGESA 1.0.0.6 does 3000-3200 XMP very well just set and forget

I still have problems with my corsair vengence rgb 3200mhz. Posts no problem. But random hangs and crashes here and there. Sometimes while idle sometimes while gaming.

Problem resolved by setting ram to 2666mhz.

Unless there is some other underlying problem then i dont think ill ever recommend 3200mhz ever. Maybe my motherboard brain spoilt.

Anyway ts budget allows him to get 3200mhz if he follows my recommended build. Can always clock and run at 2666mhz if he encounters any problems.

1. CPU + MB: Ryzen 2600 + MSI B450 GAMING PLUS - $442

2. GPU : GIGABYTE RX 580 8GB GAMING - $365

3. PSU : CM MWE 550W 80+ GOLD PSU - $99

4. RAM : 2x 8GB KINGSTON 2400MHZ CL17 - $162 ($81 x 2)

5. SSD: SANDISK PLUS 240GB 2.5" SSD - $69

6. HDD: TOSHIBA 1TB 7200RPM 2YRS P300 RED - $53

7. Casing : Tecware Nexus-M casing - $49

Total cost: $1528


No specific reason for any of the parts apart from the cpu+mb combo bc it's just cheap and good enough for you.

I bolded the GPU part bc i feel that you might want to reconsider in getting a new one. I second bobo's recommendation, a second hand 1070ti is still the way to go in your circumstance.

And anyone got any comment on aftershock? Cause i might not be able to do claiming from SLS diy build. Need to double check on the claiming policy.

you mean warranty? for parts from simlim you need to individually go to the respective service centres for each part for warranty

yes if you buy from aftershock there will be aftersales service. So if thats the way you want to go its a good alternative

basically TLR is if you go aftershock, you will sort of exchange your monitor budget for a 1 year onsite warranty and 3 year warranty for parts for you pc. On top of that, the parts are quite stock(in terms of brands) compared to what you can pick from customising your own pc

quick question, would you pick 2600/2600x over 1700x? Since the price on prime now for 1700x looks pretty good.

nope. That extra .2 or .3ghz will not be better than 2 more cores.
