Hmm have you cleaned contacts of the PCIe slot(s)?

The slot is pretty narrow, not sure what I can clean it with. I blew out the dust using a bicycle pump with a nozzle though. Hmm yeah my computer is really dusty!

Please check whether your 6-pin PCIe power connector is securely connected to your graphics card.

Skali is the pice slot on mobo spoil. Maybe try borrowing an old graphic card to try?

I am leaning towards the PCI-E fault taking into account of how old the board is and the slot was never used or verified to be working before. Plus, I do occasionally get bsod on Windows so I suspect the system may no longer be in its best health.

I am holding out on assembling a new pc as my current one is still more than adequate for majority of my use, save for some ocassional light gaming. I bought the GPU as an intermediate upgrade and also because their prices have come down with release of new models.

I guess a full upgrade might in order.

My old ASUS H97 Pro Gamer need to choose PCIE video output else it won't work. Putting it on Auto will not work either. Try to find that settings, it's kinda buried inside the bios .

I'm thinking your CPU does not support your GPU. your GPU needs x16 PCIE lanes, your CPU supports x16 PCIE. something else connected is taking up the lanes and your GPU is not getting lanes to connect to the CPU. maybe RAMS? try disconnect one ram and power it up. that should clear enough lanes for your GPU to work.

As for cleaning the slot, it involves spraying contact cleaner into the slot; it should be fast drying and gets rid of all that rust and dust inside the slot. I had helped a friend revive his PC by doing this and cleaning the contacts of the GPU.

But for now, let Convergent do their diagnosis of the GPU first since they should have the hardware like known working mobos e.t.c. to help eliminate the causes

One more idea (separate post cos visibility):

Apparently your mobo got a "GPU Boost" switch. Have you tried disabling it? (Go see manual here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H67I_DELUXE/HelpDesk_Manual/)

Also, got try disabling EPU boost (or simply clearing CMOS)?

Just an update, I brought the GPU down to Convergent and they tested the card for me. The card is fine but I never got it to work on my motherboard.

I've just assembled a new pc and the GPU is now working great on it, just want to thank you all for the advice and help!

My old PC specs quite similar to yours when I upgraded GFX card. Managed to work using DisplayPort cable. Didn't test with HDMI.

CPU: i5-2550K
GPU: Palit Super Jetstream GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 2x 8GB DDR3
MB: Asus P8Z68-V LE
