Help with pc power on issue

problem started a month ago, my pc suddenly got power on issue.
when I press the power button on the case, the pc won’t power up.

what I need to do is to press and hold the power button for about 10s let go and press again so that it would power up.
however, the method is not 100%, sometimes need to repeat 2 – 3 times just to power up the pc.

but once it is up, there is no issue and error prompt.
I can use the pc without any issue for the whole day.

googled for similar problem, some suggested changing the CMOS batt, but the problem persist.
changed the PSU to test, didn't help either.

any idea what could be the cause?
btw, is a diy pc already 8yo, no hardware changes for the past 3yrs.

did you DIY by yourself? If you did,

1) unplug the power button, use a screw driver to short the PWD pin on the mobo
2) if it starts without issue. it can be your case button faulty
3) If shorting the PWD pin do not work then its of another issue

if it's 3) it's time to change system.. it's over 8years.

Had this issue with 2 of my seasonic psus. If yours is seasonic, just go corbell and change

Had this issue with 2 of my seasonic psus. If yours is seasonic, just go corbell and change

mine is coolermaster.
swapped out to test with a corsair psu, didn't help.

i suspect your power button might have issues in the way that makes it so that you need to hold onto the button to start it up. Try shorting the pins with a screwdriver, most likely the culprit. If thats the case, then need to change case to solve the issue

Hi @kimsix , thank you for the post. I have the same issue. Mine is the Seasonic Prime TX. I saw this post a few days ago, and went to Corbell to do a RMA. Overall it was a fast and pleasant experience.
I really appreciate you sharing this.
