Hi guys,

Recently, i am having a series of Blue screen and crashes on my computer while playing games (Windows 8 64 bits). Especially so for Dota 2. It would start off by lagging so bad, and it would recover to normal or crash. Did Ping test in game was below 30ms.

Another game that i play was WoT, Ping would shot up to 999, FPS would drop to 1 FPS to 5. After 2-3 mins it would suddenly revert back to normal or it would just crash.

Every time it crashes, the reason reported is different. Sometime it is Memory_ Management, sometime it's others.

I had conducted Memtest 86, detected some errors on test 4 to 7. Overall it passed somehow. Did it only once, so my question is what should i be looking for when conducting the Memtest? And to what stage of error or dmg could i RMA it. Using Kingston DDR2 800 mhz value ram, so it is really quite ancient.

I also did a run on Burn in test(edited) for 10 mins, no artifact obvious for the duration, temperature hitting 90 degree with 100% fan on. Used MSI Afterburner to set the fan @ 100 before going in.

At lost as all my component are quite old, and everyone of them seems like a source. Or it is just a system instability, i just need to reformat my win 8:s11::s11::s11:

Thanks guys for any input.

What u had experienced is call thermal throttling. If ur cpu hit such a high temperature, most likely it's thermal paste dried up. Just simply clean up and reapply the paste will do. Running memtest once and 10 min of prime95 does not justify ur system is stable.

Hmm... thermal paste was applied 3 months ago, temperature never went past 70 degree for CPU. Mostly around 65 degree when gaming. around 40 when idle.

I did it once only cause i dun know what i should be looking for in memtest.

As for graphic card, i did a few season of 10 games around 3 in total. The reason is to let the temperature to cool down first, the card is in excess of 4 years. Like asking grandpa to play soccer, haha.
The reason is that the games i play, Dota-2 (medium setting) and world of tanks(medium setting) work load are so far off compared to running my GPU under full load in prime 95. So if i would get this problem just say 3-5 mins into a game of dota 2, i suppose by just running (Edited; Burn it test), it would have crashed already.

Also is that any reason for all the difference reason given by windows for the crash?

CPU is possible will try to get a new thermal paste and try it, but now evidence not supporting this...

erm p95 doesnt test GPU. Not sure what I can grab from what you said but my 2cents will be memtest one stick at a time and check thermal on GPU.

Okay in short, problem experience when gaming. But unable to trace to the root of the problem.

Currently i have a few indication.

1. Blue screen - Memory_Management. (But this is not the error that appears every time it crashes, just one of the few errors, but a likely indication of my RAM, however GPU also got Memory right?)

2. FPS drop to 1 fps con-current with lag spike 999 ping. (Internet connection or there is problem with my GPU, it would recover back to a range of 40 fps after say 2 minutes? Or com will just crash with Blue screen)

So GPU and RAM are my prime suspect for now.

Did Memtest 86 result passed - but with error. Stop cause dun know what i am looking for.

(Edited: Burn in test) to stress test the GPU and look for artifact. However none.
