HELPP!!! Full-time or part-time?

I will be enrolling into Kaplan - Murdoch Uni this May.

I was wondering if should I study my degree part-time and enroll in a full time local diploma or should I study my degree full-time and enroll in a part-time local diploma?

Ps. I’m 22 this year, in a sense, would I be too old to be enroll in a full time diploma?

What course do you intend to study in polytechnic and Kaplan - Murdoch University?

Can you cope with your studies and do you have the time and money to do 2 courses at the same time?

I had applied for Accounting and Finance in Murdoch and I’m planning to apply accounting related courses in poly as well.

I was thinking I can study one of it during the day and the other during evening time.

Cause I really wanted to complete my studies by 25 yo.

Why would you want to waste money getting '2' qualifications? If you are not going to use your Polytechnic Diploma to study a Degree (and will most likely be using a Private Diploma), why do you want to get a Polytechnic Diploma when end day you are going to use your Degree to find a job?

When I am studying a course, I do not want to get shortchange just because it is a distance learning degree. So I will take into consideration if it can help me to get a 'licence'. Murdoch is not under the List of Universities or Institutions Recognised for Admission to Singapore CA Qualification (Foundation). You may want to consider other universities from the list.

In general, if you have a degree then a full time diploma cert may not have much utility. The question would be what Murdoch degree/full time diploma are you intending to pursue as well as questions regarding your resources and ability to cope.


If it is business, IT, or media studies, then just get your Murdoch degree. And in the event, you are worried that how recognised is your Murdoch degree, I would say it is just another private degree. You should be able to get a job with it (of course, it depends on individuals in securing "good" jobs then).



And in the event that you think you want something "better" or more recognised, then I would suggest get a decent Murdoch degree (relatively good academic result), then go for local uni coursework master programs... Some local master programs are pretty easy to get in and (not that difficult to graduate as well). This is a pretty typical route for many who did not get into local uni for undergrad degrees...

There are always a reason why people want to top up a local Master Degree in the same major with their distance learning Bachelor / Honours (B/H) Degree.

For example, they want to use a local (master) degree to look for a graduate job in government/public sector. Some (SIT-OU) want to top up a local degree (NUS/NTU MSc) in order to be recognized by professional bodies (PEB Sg) to get their licence.

If my objective is to get a CA (Sg), I can always get a distance learning B/H degree. Why should I even want to take Murdoch B/H degree and top up a local Master Degree?
