Hi Guys. My G1 980 card seems to be running slightly high idle temps. It's 46-48C while on 0% right after fresh reboot with absolutely no programmes running. I'm thinking maybe my air flow is not optimal but would that bring my card to 46C within a minute of booting up?

Appreciate any insight :)

edit: forgot to add my load temps. they're 78-80C playing GTA 5 1440p with almost all Very High with AAs so it's proper under load temps.

Standard room temperature in Singapore. Your system can't go lower than 38 degree Celsius without air conditioning your room.
Unless you live in the antarctic.

Temperature seems kind of high. My MSI 970 Gaming idles at 39°C with zero rpm fan. Non air con room.

Does your card have semipassive cooling? Your fan mght not start spinning until it exceeds a certain temp.

If it has I wont worry too much about idle temps. Try loading it; if load temps high than more of a worry

nope the g1 gaming card don't have any passive cooling :\

yeah I just editedt my first post to indicate load temps which i think is normal. i know the idle temps don't raise any alarm bells but still curious to know why it's more than the usual mid to high 30C.

Just saw your edit.

Your load temps are high for a g1 980. In fact at 80 degrees, your turboboost would start throttling.

Suppose now it will be the usual recommendation of checking if u got OC, both fans spining properly, clear dust, tidy cable management blar blar blar.

One more thing. Check using afterburner if your fans are reving up appropriately. Maybe you have an afterburner profile that restricts fan speed. Fan should not be spinning more than 50-60% even at 80 degrees on default profile.

Seems pretty high for idle temp. My r9 270 idle temp when not doing anything is 35 degrees no air con. Maybe your fan is design not to spin at idle temp hence the high idle temp?

Just Google'd and tried a remedy from someone with similar issue. Changed a setting in Nvidia Control Panel and now it runs about 39-40C! It was under 'Manage 3D settings'. Changed power management mode to Adaptive from Performance.
