Hi, i plugged my logitech z625 speakers into the wall plug and it makes the following sound... there is no router nearby and i switched off all other electrical appliances in my house before trying. I am okay with the humming sound but the high-pitched sound just pisses me off. Worst thing is that I have two of these speakers and they are both making the same kind of sounds consistently. Do note that my PC is not turned on at time of recording as well.
Sound it is making:

Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same speaker. it makes that sound because your pc is off. try turn it on, or switch off speakers when not in use.

Sometimes this becomes softer when you have the cable connected to the computer and the computer is on

Nothing much to do except don't turn the knob past 12 o'clock

My set no issue but mine is connected to Creative soundcard not onboard.
Volume level is only less than 12" clock or so.
Maybe try different connection like optical if there is.

Does sound card removes the high pitch sound? I may buy one to try...any recommendation?

I think you should try:

1) Try other cable, invest in better cable.
Like if you are using 3.5 mm cable, buy from Challenger.
Elecom 3.5mm see how it goes.

2) If you are using power extension, try plugging into
power point direct. If no hissing, opt to change the power extension
you are using with surge protection like those form Daiyo and etc.

3) Invest in soundcard but depend on your budget.
Entry level soundcard from Creative will do it like
SB Z and etc.

Not sure exactly why the buzzing sound but one thing for sure.
Recommend is not turn it all the way.
Alternate way to test whether if speaker is faulty, disconnect
the cable connect to PC.

Plug the 3.5mm to your HP into the back of the sub see whether
or not have hissing. Hissing sound could be many factor.
My set I don't turn all the way but I am using Creative soundcard
so that is why I don't encounter such issue.

Just take note if you do invest in a soundcard, Z625 sound will sound
much better and powerful than onboard.

I noticed you turned the volume knob to the max which is not recommended as others have mentioned. Do you still hear the high pitch sound when your knob is below 12 o'clock mark? There might still be noise but is it that inaudible? Usually the sound knob is between 9 to 12 o'clock position then you compensate by increasing your PC (Windows) if you do not get the required volume.

Other than that, where is your sub-woofer placed? On the floor or table/desk and is there any power extension or point very near to it?

since you said you are connected via optical then it shouldn't be an issue between your PC and speaker since optical is made up of fibre so electrical/ground noise interference is eliminated.

You should remove the optical cable connected to your PC to do a test to confirm my theory.

Power line hum picked up by your amplifier circuitry, nothing much you can do about it except trying different wall power outlets or not buying this model of speakers.

Having same issue.. Planning to go rma it.. But then not confident of the new one resolving

Also using optical cable with sb xfi.. Hissing sound is constant
. Just high that frequency would come and go.. Volume wise, exist in all
No such issue with my old t3

Many possibility for me, my setup is like this:

- Power extension Schneider Electric power extension. (Pricey but
counted as a good investment for reliable power.)

- Creative X-fi Digital Music Premium HD connected VIA RCA.
Elecom RCA cable to Logitech Z625, the sound is much beefier
than using Optical

- Windows volume at 60%. speaker usually at 40%.
Bass at 60%.
Volume at Windows since I am using a soundcard, dare
not to full blast as the sound could be really loud.

Try isolate the power first, suspect could be the power extension
you are using is of cheap quality with no surge protection.

There is no optical cable attached though.

Oh man, what if my whole house has the same hum? Is there anything I can do to eliminate the hum? I am okay with the hum but the high pitch noise is what gets me irritated!

I RMA-ed it once already...end up with the same issue.

I still hear it when the knob is below 12 o'clock mark. The hum will be less noticeable but the high pitch sound is still there from time to time.

look like electrical interference between AC power cable and speaker cable

Hmm any thing to counter that?

You can try this:
https://www.techhive.com/article/3063590/home-audio/how-to-get-rid-of-hum-and-eliminate-other-noises-from-your-audio-and-video-systems.html

If still cannot, get a licensed electrician to troubleshoot ground loop issue which reside somewhere.

mine makes the sound if speakers are on and the cable is not plugged in. After i plug into port, doesnt make any sound whether pc is on or off.

try changing cables, or unplug 3.5mm if u are using optical
