I am with NTUC income enhanced income shield. The specialist doctor requires me to go for a couple of ultrasounds scans.

As I'm a walk-in patient, it's going to be quite pricey. The nurse did advise that I can be admitted to a short stay ward to allow for insurance claim. If I'm not wrong minimum time to be warded is for 6 hrs.

Anyone can advise if this type of claims can go through?

by any chance is this a private hospital? going for ultrasound which will take a couple of hours, but allowing you to check into their hospital suite for short stay with lobster dinner and Premier league available on cable TV, and then claiming through insurer.....

I went to a restructured hospital as they had the earliest appointment slot at that point of time. My dilemma is whether or not I should be warded. If I choose to be warded in a A1 ward and the claim doesn't go through, I'm going to be faced with a hefty bill.

So go where you can afford. I'd recommend B2.

Firstly, are the scans related and medically necessary for the condition that you’re warded for?

Secondly, these symptoms are not a pre-existing condition right?

The insurer is within its rights to deny the claim if the hospitalization is medically unnecessary, which is, in fact, the truth of your situation.

You can go visit a polyclinic or primary care provider for a proper referral, and then subsidies kick in to lower the price. Also, you should be able to use $300 of MediSave, possibly more, to pay the bill.

Why need A1?

Even if you're going to attempt this maneuver ("good luck"), A1 certainly isn't required, especially for day warding. If B2+ ward is available, that'd be more than fine in these circumstances. B2+ is air conditioned.

If u are testing the system, your isp is for A ward?, suggest u stay in C the cheapest with highest subsidy (if u qualify), if u succeed, u are paid a daily cash benefit. If u fail, your bill will be cheaper

I thought at least 8 hrs? any difference in bill if u stay 6 hrs vs 8 hrs or 24 hours? If u stay 24 hrs, u get 1 day's cash benefit

I was admitted to A&E, doctor ask me want to stay 8 hrs or till next day cos am on anesthetics need 8 hours to clear. Stayed A&E till next day cos my condition need nurse care, managed to claim bill and 1 day's cash benefit.
