Hi guys, need a quick check on how hotel deposit refund works in Sydney as it's the first time I'll be booking a hotel.

If I use a debit card to swap for deposit at check in, how long will the deposit be refunded and how will the refund be like?

Will it be in cheque or it will be credited to my debit card? How long will the hotel deposit be refunded?

Thx in adv

If you use a debit card, the amount will be withheld, and you won't be able to access any of that fund until the amount has been released. This depends on the banks, and can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. The amount will be released back to the card.

What if you have already settled the full amount (through a hotel site)? Will hotels in Sydney still ask for a deposit?

probably you should check with the hotel if debit is acceptable...
use a cc if not.
deposits are still common, to ensure we guests dont play punk
