Recently my fiance book a hotel for our honeymoon trip in July next year via Booking.com.
Based on the final invoice after making payments it shows $440 Sgd but however she was charged $456 after checking the bank transactions. Is that a DBS transaction fee?

you might want to phone them up and check with them .
booked before few years back, they charged based on the hotel currency (ie: twd) for taipei hotels, hence there would be currently exchange rate based on the bank's rate.

agoda and booking.com usually have the same rates for some hotels
they are under the same group ...

if u choose to pay now at agoda, you would be charged sgd, if you have chosen to pay now. if u have chosen pay later, you would be charged based on that hotel currency.

Most likely because the payment currency is not in SGD. Booking.com will show the hotel price converted to SGD. If you read carefully, they will state the hotel will charge you in the location currency and the SGD shown is estimated, not including any bank charges

Why not pay at hotel?

normally pay at htoel, you would not be able to apply discount coupons ...
hence, normally would pay now ...

pay at hotel usually is for hotels with free cancellations ...
since non-refundable hotels requires immediate payment usually ...

Just write off lah.

These things happen sometimes.

Not worth the hassle.
