My laptop has reached its 3 year mark so i decided it's time to refresh my rig. This time around i decided getting a custom desktop might be the way to go. Browsing through this section, I pretty much have an idea what part you guys normally recommend. Come January I should have a good amount of cash on hand (cough*cough AWS/Bonus) How much do you think I should have ready?

Currently, games i frequent is Dota2 but I do play all the games that get released. (I have a habit of playing the new game for a few days then running back to dota again)

The problem is Im not sure how much im willing to spend on the new rig but obviously the more i could save, the better. For example, the display unit Dell u2414h vs Dell s2340l. Should I splurge the extra 200 or stick with the cheaper one? Should I go with 256 ssd or the 128 ssd? Cheaper case or something nice like the h440?

TLDR version - Whats the sweet spot budget for me? I wanna save but I dun mind forking out if the upgrade is worthwhile.

Sry for the long post and thanks yo.

The minimum sum you will need would be $1.7k-1.9k range including monitor.

Come back here again and ask once you have the money on January. It may differ in specs in the coming near future.

Things may differ also due to the pricing of components and also at the time of offer or promo going on.

Wait. Prices may drop and new hardware may be introduced. Don't see a pointin buying components to store for 2 months before assembling because that is a waste of warranty and maybe forcing yourself into a certain build already. Just get your parts, assemble them and enjoy your rig in 1 go. Just my 2 cents. 😊😊
