How often to re-apply thermal paste?

My PC was assembled in 2014, and the thermal paste was already applied on the CPU heatsink fan.
So it has been 5 years. Do I need to re-apply new thermal paste?
It seems to be still working fine.

If you know how to re-apply why not.

I re-apply it on my GPU after 3 years due to warranty. When I open it up, it was very dry. So it took me some time to clean up.


For me, I'll re-apply every 1-2 years

I changed the whole Intel stock heatsink recently with a spare one on my 9yr old CPU.
