Well, I believe if it's in his case, this library might be an overkill, since char array is more than sufficient to provide him the way for his program, anyway, I've never heard about this library before, might take a look.

Definitely overkill, I am just trying to show there it is possible to have elaborate manipulation of strings in C. Those offered by the standard strings library is rudimentary after all, but quite sufficient for most cases.

Any case, I have not come across any programming languages that make better string manipulation than Perl.
