How to setup Singtel AC Plus as AP?

Is there a step by step guide somewhere? Am relatively newbie at network connectivity stuff.

Happen to have two Singtel AC Plus routers. Main one is being used as the primary wireless router. Want to setup the 2nd one as a Access Point (one LAN port for a PC and as a secondary wifi hotspot).

Do I plug an ethernet from Main Router (LAN port) to Secondary Router Internet/Wan port? Then use 1 LAN port to connect to the PC? How about setting up on the router settings? Need to configure the router as AP/assign static IP?

Yes, no need to configure much, Singtel AC Plus should automatically run as an AP when you connect its WAN port to the LAN port of the main router.

You only need to configure its wireless SSID and password. You can also give it a static IP from your main router so that it is easier for you to access the Web GUI of Singtel AC Plus.

It is a very lousy router but it is a bit better as an AP.

Hi sorry for hijacking this thread but I really need some help.

So I just recontracted my broadband and Singtel gave me this new router. I am trying to use my old Singtel Aztech router as an AP, but the problem is I can't go into the Web GUI due to the clash in the default gateway (same for both devices since they're from Singtel - 192.168.1.254).

How do I assign a static IP to the old router (my intended AP)?

Please refer to the following thread. There is no official AP mode support for the Aztech routers. Rather you have to configure it in a custom AP mode, sing your PC, without connecting it to the new Singtel issued router.

1) Disable DHCP
2) Set static IP (eg: 192.168.1.253 or 192.168.1.2)
3) Connect Aztech Lan port (NOT WAN Port) to new Singtel router LAN port.

Sorry I'm a little confused because I tried doing all of those just now and the internet went crazy.

For disabling DHCP and setting static IP, do I do this on the old Aztech router? Or on my new router?

I did those on my new router and the internet died. Had to reset the router.

The thread didn't really describe the steps to doing this...sorry :(

On your old router. (Not the new one).

Suggest if you connect directly to the old router to disable the DHCP and set a static IP. Once done than connect the old router to your network and use the old Aztech as an AP.

BTW, if can not figure out how to carry out the setup, you can also forget about the Aztech router and buy Singtel Mesh Router from Carousell at around S$10 to S$20. It will automatically run as AP. And its wireless performance should be better.

Sorry I'm quite a noob.

So to specify, I power on the old Aztech, connect a LAN cable from a LAN port to my laptop. Then I go to 192.168.1.254 to configure?

It says the address is unreachable :/

The Ethernet setting there says "limited connectivity", not sure why... :(

Still cannot access the address. It still says unreachable.

Could it be that 2 singtel devices cannot be used at the same time?
Okay maybe I'll describe my issue a little.

After setting up all connections, the main problem is accessing the GUI of the old Aztech router. Everytime I access the address 192.168.1.254, sometimes I access the GUI of the new router, sometimes it hops to that of the Aztech router. Then the internet starts to slow down so much that it dies eventually (probably due to the clash of the Default Gateway?)

Now, I cut off all connections and only power up the old Aztech router to connect it to my laptop via LAN cable (ethernet), but it keeps saying "limited connectivity" and I cannot access 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.254/singtel at all. The page just says "unreachable".

Yes you have to disconnect the Aztech from the new router and set it up as an AP first before you can connect it to the new Singtel router.. If not there will be conflicts which will kill your internet. There should not be two DHCP server within one network.

It is kind of strange that you can not access the web page now. It seems that DHCP is not working properly somehow. In that case, set up your PC using static IP address 192.168.1.88 and try again.

What is your Aztech model?

FG7003GRV(AC).

Ok, I'll try setting up a static IP from my computer itself.

Ok, it worked! I manually entered Default Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS Servers to set up static IP. Now I can access 192.168.1.254.

After which, I went to DHCP settings, and disabled "IP address distribution".

Is that all I need to do?

You have to change its IP address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.253.

After that connect the LAN port (NOT WAN port) of the Aztech to the LAN port of new SingTel issued router.

Okay it finally works!

Thanks so much bros for all your help :D
