HTPC & Gaming Rig (in the same room)

Just wondering whether there is a point in having both a HTPC (mainly using xbmc) and a gaming rig in a room? HTPC connect to a wall mounted 46'+ TV and mainly for torrenting and watching movies. Gaming rig connected to dual monitor and mainly for work/gaming.

Will it be overkill?

A gaming rig can double up as a HTPC since the former has better specs. So in practice u only need the gaming rig.

it will take many years of 24/7 to save back the money via electric bills.

If the TV has a usb port you can just plug in thumbdrive or HDD with movie inside..
