Going to Bkk in late july, will probably swing by Hua Hin for 2 days.

Any advice on

1. Getting there (will be in bkk before and after that)

2. Accoms (~100 a night or lower?)

3. Getting around in Hua Hin (Cabs are easy? Or renting a car easier?)

Any recommends on places to visit will be great considering its just 2 days in HH.

Thanks!:s12:

Same as me, but
I'm going BKK in early July and planning to go Hua Hin =[

For me I was planning to take a Minivan from Victory Monument BTS~~ to Hua Hin. 180-200bhat only 1 way per pax. Luggage might need to pay more.
But reviews says that their Minivan drivers are super dangerous, drive at high speed and weave in and out of traffic. Most of the traffic accidents come from the minivan drivers... 2.5-3hrs to reach.

Alternatively can take their Pran Tour bus from Sai Tai Mai Bus Terminal. also around the same price, 3.5hrs or so to reach. Probably safer but slower. Sai Tai Mai bus terminal is also damn far from BKK city area though, approximately 20km or so? Take taxi sure cost more than 300bhat.

can't help you with accommodations as i'm going in the day and going back in evening.

I read online you can take their Tuk Tuk and Taxis, but they'll charge you a high price. Higher than normal taxis in BKK. Expect 100bhat for a short trip in Hua Hin.

Check this page out, might help you.
I'm personally visiting Vana Nava Hua Hin (Water theme park) if i'm really going there.

Here's a list of drivers you may want to contact (i've cribbed from the Desperately Seeking-Bangkok page on FB). Haven't tried any of them. Personally, I've paid B2,000 from hua hin to Bkk one-way for a Toyota Camry.

If you are going for a day-trip, suggest u nego with the driver for a whole-day rate.

Mr JARUNG PHOKRASANG MOB: 0890944652/+66890944652 has mini bus

BKK South Bus terminal is not only far from BKK center, but it's also damn confusing. It was evidently not designed for tourists, so all signs are in Thai. I went there thinking of catching the big bus to HuaHin, but had a hard time figuring out where to buy the tickets, and bought one from a stall that had the words "HauHin" written on it. Turns out to be a minivan. Dammit, might as well have gone to Victory Monument.

On the bright side, the van was comfortable and fast, and I didn't feel it was overly-fast or unsafe. On the return trip, I also took a minivan, and again, it was fast and convenient. Of course this is subjective. The worse minivan drivers have got to be those in Laos. In comparison, Thai minivans seem quite safe :)
