i want to watch a full hd movie. my laptop is not 1080p. but i connect it to a 1920x1080 monitor. will the image be full hd? or will the laptop resolution limit this?

Can no problem monitor can be output to 1080p, but the laptop display itself cannot display 1080p

Just use extended display, or only output to your 2nd display(in this case). Use the latter so that your 2nd display will be allocated fully all video memory. This usually is not an issue for movie only.

Must also make sure your graphic card can sustain outputting full hd resolution
If not later aimai aimai go kaput..
