For some reason i don't have enough space but when i see what are the space used, its obvious that i have more than enough space. Is this apple ploy to make me upgrade to the 20gb?

I googled and it seems it assuming its a rolling backup means it does a back up of your back up. So its 1.8gb+2.1gb or something like that -.- dunno why but im using my pc to backup first

Check: Did u inadvertently enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta)? Because if u did, then your entire photo AND VIDEO library in all your devices will be trying to upload into the cloud.

it's a server glitch, have to ask apple to purge the cache data out.

happened to me as well... lost 2gb of space for nothing, till they examined my account and gave a diagnose and resolution... which took 1 week to complete

I did a backup to my laptop then delete the iCloud backup of my phone and re do it. It solved the problem

This is not because Apple don't increase the free storage capacity, it is becuase too much user and they unable to load so many in their server. Try to ask around how many are use Dropbox compare to iCloud storage.. I would say there is big gaps between Dropbox n iCloud.. If Apple has the same user with Dropbox they will give us same free storage as well.. I have 5GB iCloud but only 2.8GB Dropbox!!!

Happened to me when i upgraded to iOS 8.1. Phone occupied 3.9GB and when sync to back up, iCloud seeks another 3.9GB tops of the current occupied space.

Delete existing back up and re back up solved for me.
