hi,

sorry if i post in the wrong thread/forum.
jus asking for a S'porean citizen having a full time employment, is it illegal for him to have a part-time job?
lets say the part-time job is like those pizza delivery etc type of jobs that doesnt contribute to CPF or report to IRAS your earnings from your part-time.

thanks!

i think you wont get into trouble with CPF or IRAS for part-time moonlighting but you might probably want to look over the terms of your employment with your full time employer.

they might have it stated somewhere that you can't moonlight.

provided they find out.

what they don't know doesn't hurt them. :s8:

Not illegal, but the employer of the full time job should know the employee is working part time as well

Unless your employment contract prohibits you to work part time, you should be able to do so provided you are not working for a competitor at the same time or a job which would compromise your integrity in the company or your performance. I may be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that civil servants cannot take up a second job.

I remember reading in the papers that there are some people who work two to three jobs just to earn enough to feed the family.

Part time jobs are still attracted to CPF, unless your monthly pay for your part time job doesnt exceed $50. Contrary to popular belief, there is no such things as jobs without CPF, and its illegal for companies not to pay CPF.

Tutors are self-employed, so they dont have recurring monthly contributions, unlike salaried employees. They would have to declare their income to IRAS.

I have been blessed with good bosses except one. Once trust is not there, look for greener pasture. By coming here, I assume that you do not have the trust and discuss this issue with your boss. Most companies do have policy against moonlighting. If you have the trust in your boss, you can explain to your boss of your dire situation that you need a second job. As long as it doesn't affect your current job and your boss's position, a good boss will understand. One eye open, one eye close. You scratch my back and I scratch yours. ;)

Hi,

No its not employer problem, they wont find out and it wont affect the competitiveness.
My colleagues plans to work as a pizza delivery rider and the pizza company pays by petty cash, no CPF and doesnt declare to IRAS of the additional income.
Was wondering is it considered "cheating" the govt since u dont pay additional taxes in addition of the additional income.

quite impressive i should say:)

Thats why you should buy term insurance, enhanced medishield plan, and invest the rest.

After your term insurance expires at age 65, you will have a few thousand dollars of dividend every month, much better than any insurance payout for a similar sum invested.
