iMac 27” with egpu

I’m using a MBP09 and it’s well over due.

Being thrifty, and cheap, I’m looking at iMac 27” entry range, and is willing to explore upgrading the hardware in future as needed.

The processor and ram no issue, just the graphic card cannot afaik. Will using an egpu make senses?

latest iMac comes with TB3 so it should be possible

If im not wrong, if you output your eGPU to an internal screen the performance actually takes a hit. You may want to do some research.

I Guess I’ll only have to wait till someone or Apple support the egpu or provide gpu upgrade till then.

Some how Apple and thrifty are 2 words that feels incorrect to put in the same sentence

If saw a LTT video saying is bandwidth limitations with thunderbolt causing the external GPU to be bottle-necked.

If you're not ready to use egpu with an external monitor, don't even bother consider it.
