Stumbled upon this very very cool case (a direct apple Mac Pro ripoff but who cares) on kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dunecase/dune-case?ref=discovery

Now, this is interesting and all but given its small size it only allows small form factor parts (bummer!). So here is a question to all you pros.

Costs and value aside, is it possible to hook this baby up with an external GPU (lets assume a full form GTX 980Ti) + a relevant external PSU to get this baby going?

Kickstarter has become a rip off, mainly selling stuff which can be found far cheaper in China, plus no guarantee that you will get something at the end of a very long wait.

agreed on kickstarter and indiegogo. in fact saw some rubbish on indiegogo like "fund my pc!" with a target price of USD 5k. Its a pure donation! There is no option where you donate and he kisses your ass or something. Just ridiculous.

But I think there is definitely a gap in the market for "cool, beautiful products" in the same vein of apple designs.

agreed.... sometimes you look at the things on kickstarter and really want to laugh...

but i guess a lot of manufacturers don't think that pc users are into "cool & beautiful" but more functionality chaser?

I guess thats how Apple is carving their own space. People who want form over function. And I realize these are the people who are generally older and more conscious of image. And these are the people who also have more spending power to create that image for themselves. Its really a win-win for apple!

Also, look at all the expensive designer concepts. Every designer concept workstation/space features either a Macbook or a 5k Mac monitor without exception. Predator/ROG series doesn't even register as a "cool stylish factor".

Now, if I have a choice I would definitely go for the Mac. Its just too gorgeous and beautiful. But the geek in me refuses to accept the parts inside the Mac. If i can only hollow out a mac and replace them with real PC parts

Edit: Not all the parts. All i want is an apple computer that allows me to use a discrete full form GPU of my choice and i'm going over.

Whats the point in getting a SFF case and then having the GPU/PSU external? Plenty of stylish SFF cases on the market now that will fit full length gpu, some even smaller than this case.
