I stared at the display sets side by side and realize I can't tell any visual difference.

Then I deliberately moved to the side to see if MVA is worse than IPS like those TN panel. Surprisingly, no. However, the IPS is more expensive by about $30.

Is there something wrong with my eyes? :spin:

Generally, IPS has better colour accuracy while VA has better colour saturation and contrast. For gaming, IPS is better because of faster response times and less ghosting.

I did notice some colour washout on VA comparing back to back with IPS when looking off axis but the blacks were definitely better on the VA. Overall I'd still take IPS though

Take note that "off-axis" can also mean the corners of your screen when you're sitting at the center of the screen.

IPS exhibits IPS glow which can be seen in dark scenes

VA exhibits washed out colors

Also IPS has more backlight bleed so blacks will not be as black, and any screen irregularities will be more obvious. VA can go very black.

If I am looking at more bright content, I would go for IPS. Video and gaming wise, in terms of image, I would go for VA. But as mentioned lower response time of some VA models vs some IPS models.

All in all, it will depend on individual models. Some VA have wide viewing angles, some VA have low response time, some IPS don't have as obvious IPS glow.

VA best of both ips and tn. good colors and contrast, fast response time, no ips glow.

I dont notice change in color on 40inch monitor unless I sit so close that i have to turn my neck to the right. if you sit comfortably middle where you can see everything just by moving your eyes, it wont affect you.

and if youre looking at a smaller monitor, color change is a moot point
